Every species on the face of the planet is neurologically constructed in a similar fashion – to protect and enhance other members of the species. Geese fly in formation together to increase their speed, zebras run at rapid speeds in groups to confuse the sight and attack abilities of predators, empire penguins huddle together to protect the entire flock from lethally cold temperatures. Humans feel together to protect each other. Yet, due to unintentional lessons gained in childhood, we are raised to be disengaged and disconnected from others around us – shown in diminished empathy, and a diminished sense of duty to others. Trust is difficult to give or to earn.
The good news – the hope that exists for small and large teams everywhere – is that our connectedness can be reawakened in the amygdala and frontal lobe by a series of business practices and behaviors that emphasize the collective power and resilience of the human herd.
This is not the standard presentation on EQ or a collection of “touchy feely” elements; rather, it is an exploration of the ways in which we have learned to ignore our emotional awareness and how to rediscover the disengaged parts of our neurology to make us reunited as a human herd. This applies not only to our interactions with customers, clients, or patients, but even more so to our workplace interactions with our colleagues. Dr. Rao will offer a radical and transformational way of viewing our connectedness to each other.
Dr. Rao’s goal is to create for every seminar participant a sense of “vuja de”. Everyone knows what déjà vu is – it is the sense that you come to a new place but feel like you’ve seen it before. The opposite, vuja de, is to have you look at places (and people) that you’ve seen a thousand times before, but feel like it is for the very first time once you’ve been given a new set of “eyes” from which to see your role as a leader and a fellow member of the human species. |
